I am traveling this week, so I thought you might enjoy seeing a demonstration of what my parrots do when I am gone.

For those who are interested, I am visiting London to attend the Royal Society’s Young People’s science book award, for which I was a judge this year. I am looking forward to once again being at the Royal Society, chatting with my fellow judges, learning if I won my bet as to which book wins this year’s award, and of course, visiting the great city of London! (This is high praise indeed, coming from a New Yorker.)
Since this is a long and expensive journey for me, I am staying for five days — not long enough, I know, but I return to London for another five-day visit in less than two weeks, so I’ll be spending ten days in your fair city this month.
In addition to attending the Royal Society’s Young People’s science book award ceremonies, I thought I’d share some of the other exhibitions and tours that I (and my cameras) plan to attend:
The British Museum:
Natural History Museum:
Science Museum:
Kew Gardens:
IMAX:
- And of course, whilst in London, I must see Gravity on the big BIG screen!
Being a fan of ales and bitters, I’ve already got a few favourite pubs that I plan to visit again, and a few new ones added to my list, too — thanks to my twitter pals’ many helpful suggestions. (Of course, I am always interested in visiting pubs that have a science theme or where famous writers used to hang out, too.)
Also thanks to my twitter pals’ suggestions, I have a list of recommended vegetarian/vegan curry houses to dine at — there’s a plethora of such places near the Euston Street station, so I will begin my culinary curry explorations there.
Have I missed any special exhibitions? Do you know of a special pub or curry house that you think I must visit? If so, please do let me know so I can add it to my (not yet overcrowded) schedules!
